Topped and Equipped

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

Today, our granite countertops are being installed. It makes the counter look a whole lot better. I was also able to get a shot of my GC in the pic. He’s always running around like crazy. If you’re ever looking for a contractor, this is the guy to see. Contact me and I’ll give you his number.

The vent shaft is also near completion. It looks like a huge robotic tentical from the sky! Take a look and you’ll see what I mean.

I could probably use it as an escape chute.

Our equipment is also coming in gradually. We did have some issues with the size of one table as all the cooking equipment must be under the hood. We had to get a smaller table to accomodate the lack of space under the hood but everything worked out so far. Check it out and let me know what you guys think.

Getting Lighted

Monday, April 27th, 2009

This week the lighting for the front came in and it looks pretty cool. My favorite are the ones lining the front of the restaurant overlooking the bar tables. The ceiling fan was also installed inside the “halo”. I was able to describe to my GC what type of lighting I wanted and he picked them out for me. I like them!

I’ve posted some pictures below. Please let me know what you think!

The counter now has lights which are pretty cool. Unfortunately, if Dirk were to ever visit he’d be staring straight into these bad boys.

These are my favorite of all the lights.

Full Speed Ahead!

Wednesday, April 22nd, 2009

Now that we have all the approvals in place our construction team has gone full speed! I went in to take a picture of the place this morning and already there were a couple of workers working on the vent hood system for the kitchen. The ice machine was also delivered. It’s gigantic!
Here’s a picture of the machine:

Then I stopped by during lunch and found over 10 workers doing several things on the place. Cable, internet, phone lines, lights all being worked on. Also the counter was installed. Take a look and let me know what you think!

T2G Gets the Greenlight

Thursday, April 16th, 2009

Well we finally receive the approval we need to build our vent shaft which will go up 5 stories high. It’s the drawbacks of opening up a restaurant under an apartment complex. The contractor needed to access the shaft space on every floor which means that he’ll needed to punch a hole through the wall. We had to get permission from the apartment owners first. After weeks of going back and forth and jumping through many hoops we’re good to go! Now it’s full steam ahead and the kitchen should be done in 3 weeks!

T2G Gets More Color

Thursday, April 16th, 2009

So we finally added some more color to the place. I did a little modification to the original plan and I think this should be it for painting the place. The brown helped keep the green from burning your eyes off! I wish I could take some pictures of the bathroom but it’s dark in there and the flash really makes the room look weird. The contractor thought I loved green so much, he painted my office the same green. Now when I’m in my office I’ll be staring at a wall of green! So take a look and let me know what you guys think of the place.

We’re still on track to open in May. Keep your fingers crossed!

Thai 2 Go Gets Color

Friday, April 10th, 2009

So this week, the restaurant was painted and tiled. Now I know what you are saying. This place is all green. It’s not supposed to be this way. There’s some brown in there but they haven’t painted it yet. Supposedly that’s going to happen tomorrow so stay tuned for the additional colors. You can see a little of the what the brown if you look careful enough. Please tell me what you think. I think you’ll either love it or hate it. LOL

Paint

Color. Another very important part for creating an atmosphere that stimulates the senses and sort of preps the taste buds before the actual tasting. Mixing and matching color is very important because it will either bring in customers or chase them away.

I spent many days staring at colors and looking at various restaurants and noticing what kind of atmosphere each color scheme creates. Luckily I love to people watch so this was very easy for me. I then consulted my friends and family and was able to get the color I feel would be great for the restaurant.

Hopefully you will like it too.
