Major Changes Coming!

Tuesday, May 12th, 2009

With construction nearing complete, we look forward to all the inspections we’ll need to get this place open and running. Of course this means, major changes to the restaurant as we bring in chairs and tables, computers, TVs, etc. Keep coming back as we’ll have pictures of the restaurant with chairs and tables soon!

Topped and Equipped

Tuesday, April 28th, 2009

Today, our granite countertops are being installed. It makes the counter look a whole lot better. I was also able to get a shot of my GC in the pic. He’s always running around like crazy. If you’re ever looking for a contractor, this is the guy to see. Contact me and I’ll give you his number.

The vent shaft is also near completion. It looks like a huge robotic tentical from the sky! Take a look and you’ll see what I mean.

I could probably use it as an escape chute.

Our equipment is also coming in gradually. We did have some issues with the size of one table as all the cooking equipment must be under the hood. We had to get a smaller table to accomodate the lack of space under the hood but everything worked out so far. Check it out and let me know what you guys think.

This is where the magic happens.

Getting Lighted

Monday, April 27th, 2009

This week the lighting for the front came in and it looks pretty cool. My favorite are the ones lining the front of the restaurant overlooking the bar tables. The ceiling fan was also installed inside the “halo”. I was able to describe to my GC what type of lighting I wanted and he picked them out for me. I like them!

I’ve posted some pictures below. Please let me know what you think!

The counter now has lights which are pretty cool. Unfortunately, if Dirk were to ever visit he’d be staring straight into these bad boys.

These are my favorite of all the lights.

T2G Gets the Greenlight

Thursday, April 16th, 2009

Well we finally receive the approval we need to build our vent shaft which will go up 5 stories high. It’s the drawbacks of opening up a restaurant under an apartment complex. The contractor needed to access the shaft space on every floor which means that he’ll needed to punch a hole through the wall. We had to get permission from the apartment owners first. After weeks of going back and forth and jumping through many hoops we’re good to go! Now it’s full steam ahead and the kitchen should be done in 3 weeks!

T2G Gets More Color

Thursday, April 16th, 2009

So we finally added some more color to the place. I did a little modification to the original plan and I think this should be it for painting the place. The brown helped keep the green from burning your eyes off! I wish I could take some pictures of the bathroom but it’s dark in there and the flash really makes the room look weird. The contractor thought I loved green so much, he painted my office the same green. Now when I’m in my office I’ll be staring at a wall of green! So take a look and let me know what you guys think of the place.

We’re still on track to open in May. Keep your fingers crossed!

Office

Friday, March 20th, 2009

Construction is rolling along just find and I finally had a chance to take a look at kitchen. I also got a chance to see my office and man is it tiny! It’s like a little closet! I’m glad I’m not claustrophobic!

Tiles

Thursday, March 19th, 2009

Picking tiles is a very complicated thing to do. You want to pick something that will long time which means you’ll need to pick out something that will still be in trend for that long as well. Tiles come in so many different colors, shapes and sizes that one can get overwhelmed when staring at all of them. I spent half an hour staring at 2 tiles trying to figure out how these 2 shades are different. They looked so much alike!
